WASHINGTON D.C. - Junior midfielder Ashmore Standing and junior attacker Jessica Liberty each scored three goals, but ODU came up on the short end of a 13-11 score to American Saturday afternoon.

Old Dominion (3-6) was held off the scoreboard first (ends ODU's 6-straight games with the first goal) as American scored 18 seconds in to take a 1-0 lead. Old Dominion's Rea would score the next two Lady Monarch goals to even the game at 2-2.

Standing answered with her 11th of the season less than two minutes later with a feed coming from ODU freshman midfielder Connor Carson, which gave Old Dominion the 3-2 lead.

Redshirt sophomore midfielder Morgan Gallagher extended the Lady Monarchs lead to 4-2 at 14:03, which was her 8th goal of the year.

American would go on to score the next five goals of the game to take a 7-4 lead until ODU's sophomore midfielder Mary McCaleb tallied her 7th of the season on a free position shot as ODU trailed 7-5 at halftime.

The second half began with American scoring on a player up as the Eagles took a 9-5 lead. Old Dominion quickly answered with Liberty scoring her first of three goals in the second half and 16th of the season with the assist going to Megan Topper.

The Lady Monarchs scored four straight goals as Liberty (from Topper), Standing twice and Austerberry from Carson tied the game back at 10-10 with 17 minutes left in the game.

Unfortunately for the Lady Monarchs 15 turnovers did not help their cause to win as Liberty would score once more for the hat trick, but Old Dominion fell 13-11.

Freshman goaltender Maggi Buckley made nine saves on the day.

The Lady Monarchs picked up 12 ground balls to the Eagles 11 as American outshot ODU by a 28-20 margin.

Old Dominion only let up two draw controls as American secured 14 to ODU's 12.
