ATLANTA, Ga. – Old Dominion University senior Sidni Hoxha set a Conference USA Championship meet record in the 50-freestyle Thursday night in Atlanta. Junior Rachel Eckert won the 3-meter dive and the Monarchs also set a pair of records in the 200-free relay to cap the night.
Hoxha was the top seed going into the 50-free final and took home first place with a school and meet record time of 19.41. Vitor Sa followed with a seventh place finish and Jacob Zeidler was 10th.
Rachel Eckert reached the finals in the 3-meter dive as the No. 3 seed, but came through with a score of 294.30 to edge out Sabrina Beaupre of FIU to win the event.
The Lady Monarch 200-freestyle relay time set a school record with a time of 1:34.31 to finish in fourth place. The team of Morgan Johnson, Colleen VandePoel, Savannah Bowers and Juliana dos Santos helped set the record.
Sa, Eddie Hubert, Zeidler and Hoxha also set a school record in the men’s 200-free relay with a time of 1:20.38 to finish in second, just .19 out of first.
The meet started at the 500-free as Yesim Giresunlu finished in sixth place in a time of 4:52.34.
In the men’s 500-free, Bernardo Figuiredo earned a sixth place finish with a time of 4:27.13 while Reed Mathews was eighth, Andrew Cook ninth and Tyler Anderson and 10th.
Carter Watson had the Monarchs’ best finish in the 200-IM with a sixth place time of 1:51.14. Richie Smith followed in eighth.
The C-USA Championships resume again tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200-Free, 100-Breast, 100-Back, women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter dive.
