NORFOLK, Va. – For the second consecutive ballgame, Galaisha Goodhope led four Lady Monarchs in double-figures as the Old Dominion University women’s basketball team defeated Louisiana Tech, 75-64, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Wednesday night. ODU is now on a three-game winning streak and advances to 14-14 overall and 7-7 in Conference USA play, while the Lady Techsters fall to 8-19 and 3-11 in the conference.

Goodhope netted 17 points on 6-9 shooting (3-4 3PT FG) to go along four rebounds and four assists. Shae Kelley recorded her 15th double-double of the season, as she scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had three steals and blocked two shots. Tiffany Minor sparked the Lady Monarchs off the bench with 11 points and seven rebounds. Becca Allison also finished in double-figures with 10 points and six assists. Odegua Oigbokie went 7-8 from the charity stripe and finished with nine points and six rebounds on the night.

In a first half, which experienced a total of nine lead changes and four ties, it was the Lady Techsters who took a 29-28 lead into the locker rooms. Neither team possessed larger than a four point in the opening 20 minutes, while points in the paint were dead-locked at 14-14 and fast-break points were even at 4 apiece.

The Lady Monarchs would start the second half on a 9-2 run to take a 38-31 advantage in the first 1:54 of action. Old Dominion would stretch their lead to nine with 16:33 to play.  

At the 8:21 and 6:11 marks of the second half, Old Dominion held 10 points leads, which was the largest of the game to that point. LA Tech would fight back and cut their deficit to 62-57 with 4:14 remaining in regulation. But the largest lead of the came with 11 seconds left in the ballgame, as ODU led 75-64.

Whitney Frazier (six rebounds) led the way for the Lady Techsters with 17 points. Also in double-figures for LA Tech were JaQuan Jackson (15 points and seven rebounds) and Savanna Langston (13 points and eight rebounds)

For the game, ODU shot 43.4% (23-53) from the floor, 35% (7-20) from three and 73.3% (22-30) from the charity stripe. LA Tech hit on 35.8% (24-67) of their field-goal attempts, 31.3% (5-16) from downtown and 68.8% (11-16) from the FT line.

First Half Notes
Galaisha Goodhope led all scorers with eight points, on 3-5 shooting while Chelisa Painter went for six points.

JaQuan Jackson and Savanna Langston (3-3 FG) led the way for the Lady Techsters, asthey each scored seven points.

At the half, the Lady Monarchs connected on 34.5% (10-29) from the floor, 20%% (2-10) from downtown and hit 6-8 (75%). The Lady Techsters shot 35.5% (11-31) from the floor, 60% (3-5) from three and 50% (4-8) from the free-throw line.

The Old Dominion women’s basketball team will hit the road one last time for the regular season, when they will take on FIU in Miami, Fla. on Saturday, March 1. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m.
