HOUSTON, TX- Old Dominion University junior golfer Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) shot 72-70 for a 36 hole score of 142 and is just one stroke back of the leader at the Rice Intercollegiate which is being played at the Westwood Golf Club.
As a team, the Monarchs are in third place in the 15-team event, just five strokes behind tournament co-leaders UTSA, also in C-USA and Cincinnati. ODU is a plus 10 at 586 with UTSA and Cincinnati both at 581. The Monarchs shot 298 in the first round then shot a torrid 288 in the second. Cincinnati was the only team to shoot better than ODU in the second round with a 285.
Joining Randall in the top ten is sophomore Ashton Newsom (Chesapeake, VA.) who fired 74-71 for 145. He is tied for ninth just four strokes back. Jared Howard of Cincinnati leads the field (72-69=141). Randall had four birdies in both rounds today.
