NORFOLK, Va. – In what was the Conference USA home opener for the Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (7-9), the Lady Monarchs fell to Tulane (11-4) by score of 92-62 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.ODU’s Shae Kelley recorded her 10th double-double of the season in a 19 point (6-12 FG and 7-10 FT) and 10 rebound performance on Saturday afternoon.

The Green Wave used hot shooting throughout all 40 minutes, in a game that they led in its entirety. In the first half, TU shot a blistering 53.1% (17-32) from the floor and 50% (5-10) from three. The Green Wave followed that performance by shooting 61.3% (19-31) from floor and 50% (4-8) from downtown in the second half.

The Lady Monarchs shot the ball well from the floor in the second half, nailing 13 of their 28 field-goal attempts (46.4%) and 12-15 (80.0%) from the charity stripe.

Leading the way for Tulane was Danielle Blagg who scored 22 points on 8-15 shooting and grabbed seven boards. Also in double figures for the Green Wave were: Leslie Vorpahl (18 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds), Tiffany Dale (14 points and 7 rebounds) and Jamie Kaplan (12 points and 9 assists).

Old Dominion’s Tiffany Minor shot 7-12 from the floor, good for 17 points, as well as hauled down four rebounds. Lady Monarch senior, Becca Allison scored nine points (3-5 FG and 3-3 FT), dished out two assists and brought down one rebound. Galaisha Goodhope went for five points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals on Saturday.

First Half Notes
After the first 20 minutes, the Green Wave took their biggest lead (19) of the half into the locker room, 41-22. Tulane’s Danielle Blagg led all scorers with 12 points, as well as grabbed six rebounds.

Shae Kelley led the way for the Lady Monarch’s, scoring nine points and six boards. Galaisha Goodhope also turned in a solid first half, going for five points, two rebounds and two assists.

Next Up for the Lady Monarchs
After Saturday’s contest, the Lady Monarchs will hit the road to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on Southern Miss on Wed., Jan. 15 for an 8:00 p.m. (EST) tipoff.
