IRVING, Texas - Conference USA officials announced on Monday afternoon that Old Dominion University junior forward Shae Kelley has been named C-USA Player of the Week for all competition taking place from Dec. 2 to Dec. 8. With the award, Kelley becomes the first player in school history to garner the C-USA Player of the Week honor.

Old Dominion played in two games between Dec. 2-8, in which Kelley recorded doubles-doubles and led the Lady Monarchs to victories in both. On Wednesday in ODU’s 90-57 thrashing of UMass Lowell in front of a Lady Monarch record setting crowd of 8,086, the 6-1 co-captain went for 26 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots in 28 minutes of work.

On Saturday night against UMES, the Denver, Colo. native recorded 24 points, 13 boards, five assists and three steals in an 82-57 victory for the Lady Monarchs.

For the two games, Shae averaged 25 points, 14.5 rebounds and shot an average of 56.4% from the floor per contest. Kelley was named the Cox Communications Player of the Game against UMass Lowell and UMES.

In all, Shae racked up 50 points and 29 rebounds and has now tallied four consecutive games with a double-double. Currently Shae leads the team in points (159 for 17.7 ppg), rebounds (105 for 11.7 rpg), steals (24 for 2.7 spg), blocks (14 for 1.6 bpg), free-throws made/attempted (36-58) and FG% (49.2%).

Old Dominion won their two games last week by an average of 29 points per contest. The Lady Monarchs are now 5-4 and have a four game road-trip upcoming. This Sunday, ODU will take on Pittsburgh before playing at William and Mary on Dec. 12, followed by a showdown at VCU on Dec. 30 and ending against Duke at Cameron Indoor on Jan. 2.
