NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University wrestling team will be sending wrestlers to compete in the Cleveland State Open on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Cleveland, Ohio.
This is the ninth consecutive year that Cleveland State University has hosted this tournament. Competition is set to begin at 9 a.m. in the Woodling Gymnasium. The CSU Open is a double-elmination style tournament that will wrestle to sixth place.
Last season ODU had 12 wrestlers place at the CSU Open, including Jerome Robinson, Alexander Richardson, Matt Tourdot, Scott Festejo, Chris Mecate, Austin Coburn and Michael Hayes. Kevin Beazley, Jake Henderson and Jack Dechow placed while competing last season unattached.

125 pounds: Jerome Robinson finished second.
133 pounds: Scott Festejo finished fourth and Michael Hayes finished fifth.
141 pounds: Chris Mecate finished fourth.
149 pounds: Alexander Richardson finished second.
184 pounds: Austin Coburn finished fourth and Jack Dechow (unattached) finished third.
197 pounds: Jake Henderson finished sixth and Kevin Beazley (unattached) finished second.
285 pounds: Matt Tourdot finished second.
ODU currently has six wrestlers nationally ranked: Jerome Robinson (125), Chris Mecate (141), Alexander Richardson (149), Tristan Warner (157), Jack Dechow (184) and Kevin Beazley (197).
The next dual for the Monarchs will take place on Monday, Dec. 16 at 7:05 p.m. at Kent State for the Monarchs first MAC road dual.
