NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University football will travel more than 2700 miles miles to take on Idaho on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST.
• The Monarchs, 6-3, are coming off a 66-14 victory over Rhode Island and will face their fourth FBS team this season. Idaho lost last week to Texas State, 37-21. ODU is currently 0-3 against the FBS this year.
• Colby Goodwyn rushed for 76-yards on 19 attempts to pass Thomas DeMarco as ODU's all-time leading rusher. Goodwyn needed 43-yards to surpass DeMarco and did it on the last play of the first half. Goodwyn now has 1,490 career rushing yards.
• After not playing the previous two contests, Cam Boyd rushed for 119 yards, the second-straight game an ODU back passed 100-yards (Gerard Johnson had 101 at NSU). His 70-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the longest in school history. The previous long was by former Monarch Angus Harper versus Towson in 2011.
• Taylor Heinicke completed 80 percent of his passes, the third time this year he has completed 80 percent or more, for 293 yards and six touchdowns. The six TD tosses ties Heinicke's second highest total of his career with the six he passed for in the second round of the FCS playoffs last year against Coastal Carolina. He now has 94 TD passes, the second most among active FBS signal callers, trailing just Aaron Murray of Georgia, who has 113.
• For the third time this season, Old Dominion produced more than 600-yards of total offense, putting up 633 yards, the sixth most in school history.
• ODU rushed for a combined 285-yards, the second highest total in school history, trailing just the 340 rushing yards tallied against Georgetown in 2009.
• For the fourth time this season and 10th time in school history, the Monarchs scored 50 or more points. In both of their contests against CAA teams, ODU scored 66 points. Old Dominion scored 66 in their win over Albany.
• With their big games against URI, Larry Pinkard and Antonio Vaughan moved up the ODU receiving charts. Pinkard is now second in school history with 2,048 receiving yards while Vaughan is second with 1,972. Vaughan moved into second in school history with 155 receptions while Pinkard is fourth with 143. Nick Mayers holds both school records, catching 190 passes for 2,688 career yards.
• ODU senior offensive lineman Jack Lowney started his 40th straight game on the offensive line last week. Lowney has started the last 22-straight at left tackle. During his streak, he has started five games at righ guard and 13 at right tackle. Taylor Heinicke has the next highest start streak at 30 games.
• Junior safety Andre Simmons led the Monarchs with nine tackles in the win over URI. It was the second time he has led the team in tackles. Sophomore Fellonte Misher has led six times while freshman linebacker Richie Staton has done it once.
• The 2700 miles ODU is traveling to face Idaho is by far the longest road trip in school history. The Monarchs' longest previous road trip was in 2009 when ODU played at Jacksonville. ODU pulled out the first road game in school history, 28-27.
• ODU is 44-13 under head coach Bobby Wilder, appearing in the FCS playoffs the only two years they were eligible for a postseason bid.
