NORFOLK, Va. - Christy Longacre, Kelsey Smither, Rosario Villagra, Sarah Breen and Megan Hept were named to the NFHCA Division I All-Region Team on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
The 2013 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams feature 32 players from four regions. Old Dominion University had a total of five players make both the First Team and Second Team of the South Region.
Senior back Christy Longacre, junior midfielder Kelsey Smither and junior forward Rosario Villagra were named to the South Region First Team. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Breen and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Megan Hept were named to the South Region Second Team.
Longacre was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year and will participate in the Division I NFHCA Senior Game this Saturday at 2:15 from the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
Smither was named to the Big East All-Tournament Team, All-Big East First Team and registered a team high 14 assists on the season.
Villagra was named Big East Offensive Player of the Year, All-Big East First Team and was a Big East Offensive Player of the Week. She led the Lady Monarchs to a Big East Regular Season Title with 41 points on the season.
Breen finished second on the team with 27 points, named to the Big East Honor Roll twice and earned All-Big East Second Team.
Hept was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week and played in all 21 games this season. She posted eight shutouts and had a 1.75 GAAvg while seeing her first full season in net.
