RADFORD, Va. – Old Dominion University women’s swimming and diving won 14-of-20 events over the weekend to defeat Radford and Marshall.

The Lady Monarchs dropped the hosts, Radford by a score of 217.5-133.5 and defeated Marshall 201-140.

Old Dominion was dominant on the first day and started it off by winning the 200 medley relay as Colleen VandePoel, Julia Video, MacKenzie Payment and Juliana dos Santos started the event with a win.

Rachel Eckert continued her hot start to the season by again sweeping the 1 and 3 meter dives with scores of 280.65 and 285.00, respectively.

Yesim Giresunlu continued to the dominating start, winning the 1650 freestyle in a time of 17:20.44 and was followed by Savannah Bowers who won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.80.

VandePoel notched another win, this one in the 100 backstroke, in a time of 59.12, and the freshman also notched a win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.18.

Vido notched her first of two solo wins on the day in the 100 breast stroke in a time of 1:06.06.  She also took first in the 200 IM, just edging out teammate Alicia Frey who took second.

Julia dos Santos also won two events, winning the 50 and 100 free.

The Lady Monarchs added two more relay wins in the second day of competition, winning the 800 freestyle was the team of Laura Tolmats, Morgan Johnson, dos Santos and Bowers.

ODU also was victorious in the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:59.37.  VandePoel, Vido, Payment and Bowers were the members of the winning team.
