CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Old Dominion women’s team will be competing in the Head of the Hooch on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3 in Chattanooga.

Old Dominion has six boats competing in five events and the team begins a 5,000- meter (3.1 mile) course at 12:25 p.m. on the Tennessee River in what is the second-largest rowing race in the country. In the 2012 Head of the Hooch, ODU was led by coxswain Lydia Cleveland and won Gold in the Frosh/Novice 8+ race.

The Lady Monarchs completed last weekend at the Head of the Schuylkill winning the Commodore Cup, tying for the women’s collegiate team points trophy and finished seventh or better in all six events they competed in.

“We are definitely excited for this weekend at the Head of the Hooch,” said ODU co-captain Miranda Brown. “The Hooch is one of the largest regattas so there has definitely been a different feel in the boathouse this week. We will also see many members of Conference USA so it’s definitely going to be a busy weekend for the Lady Monarchs!”

ODU will compete in these races on Saturday:

Race 19: Women’s Championship 8+ (30 entries) begins at 12:25 p.m.

Race 26: Women’s Club 4+ (30 entries) begins at 2:05 p.m.
