NORFOLK, Va. - Junior forward Rosario Villagra has been named Big East Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. The No. 15 Old Dominion field hockey team, winners of eight straight host No. 2 Connecticut and No. 3 North Carolina (senior night) this Friday and Sunday at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

In a 2-0 week that included a 3-2 win at No. 1 Maryland, Villagra tallied four goals and an assist. She helped take down the top-rated Terps with a pair of goals, including the game-winner. She also scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-0 victory against William & Mary. For the season, Villagra leads the Monarchs with 13 goals and 10 assists. This is Villagra's fifth overall appearance on the Big East Weekly Release, with the four other times being named to the Big East Honor Roll.

Sydney King of Louisville was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Marie Elena Bolles of Connecticut, Erin Schneidtmiller of Louisville, Adrienne Houle of Providence, Nicole Kroener of Temple and Lizzie Millen of Temple were named to the Big East Honor Roll.

Old Dominion has played eight top-20 ranked teams and was just recently ranked in the top-10 RPI. Old Dominion's win over No. 1 Maryland marked the Terps' first loss this season and the Big East's first win over an ACC opponent.
