POWELLS POINT, NC—Old Dominion University junior golfer Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) finished in a three-way tie for first, but he and VCU’s Rocky Khara lost in a one-hole playoff to Logan Lagodich of Marshall at the fourth annual ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate Golf Tournament at the Kilmarlic Golf Course. As a team, ODU finished tied for fifth in the 18-team field.
Randall, who finished with a 207 score shot a 69 in the final round to tie Lagodich and VCU’s Rocky Khara and force a three-way playoff. Evan Russell of Hartford and John Somers of Elon tied for fourth two strokes back with a 209.
VCU captured the team crown with a 843 after shooting the lowest final round of 271. Maryland shot a 274 today to finish at 852 for the 54-hole event. Hartford was third at 853, Marshall was fourth at 857 and ODU tied with Elon for fifth at 859. The Monarchs shot the second lowest round of the day at 273.
Besides Randall’s 69 in the final round, ODU freshmen David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England) and Thomas Henderson (Sterling, MA.) shot 71 today. Langley finished 32nd with a 218, and Henderson was 36th with a 220.
Henderson and Radford’s Ryan Rettberg led the tournament with two eagles each, while Hartford’s Will Betts and Marshall’s Lagodich led with 14 birdies. ODU’s Randall had 12 total birdies and was second to VCU’s Steffen Harm in par four scoring at 3.85 (-4).
