MANAKIN-SABOT, VA-- ODU junior golfer Jamison Randall (lCumberland, RI.) fired a 68 in today’s final round to finish at 217 and tied for 15th at the VCU Shootout which was held at the Hermitage Country Club. As a team, the Monarchs finished fifth with a 54-hole total of 875.
Randall finished the tournament (72-77-68=217) 11 strokes behind the medalist, Scott Vincent of Virginia Tech who was 10 under at 206. Randall was second in the tournament in par four scoring at 3.87 (-4).
Freshman David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England) shot 70 in the final round today to finish tied for 21st at 219, while sophomore Ashton Newsom (Chesapeake, Va.) tied for 31st with a 222 score. Freshman Thomas Henderson finished fourth in the tournament with 39 total pars.
As a team, the Monarchs were 293-293-289 for an 875 score in the 12-team event. Virginia Tech won the title with an 841, followed by Iowa State at 863, Radford at 869 and Richmond at 873. ODU finished ahead of Maryland (879) and tournament host VCU (880).
The Monarchs return to action Oct. 7 and 8 at the Firestone Invitational.
