MANAKIN-SABOT, VA.—ODU sophomore Ashton Newsom (Chesapeake, VA.) shot 73-72 for a 145 score after two rounds of the VCU Shootout and is tied for 18th. As a team, the Monarchs are tied for fifth with a 586 score.
Newsom is eight strokes behind tournament leader Scott Vincent of Virginia Tech who is at 137 after shooting 68-69 today. Sophomore Seth Sweet (Madison, ME.) shot 71 in the second round and is tied for 30th with a 148. Junior Jamison Randall fired a 72 in the first round and is tied for 33rd with fellow Monarch freshmen David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England), and Thomas Henderson (Setrling, MA.)
Virginia Tech (567) leads the field by two strokes over Iowa State (569), followed by Richmond at 580 and Radford at 582.
