LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 20 Old Dominion (1-5) begins conference play in the Big East this Friday at 6:30 against No. 19 Louisville (4-2).

The Lady Monarchs look to regroup after having lost their last four games to top-10 ranked opponents. They play Louisville on Friday and Michigan State on Sunday at 11 a.m. In the 2010 season, ODU faced a similar scenario losing to No. 3 Virginia, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 12 Ohio State and No. 1 North Carolina.  The Lady Monarchs would then go on to win 12 of their last 17 games.

For the past 22 years Old Dominion played in the Colonial Athletic Association (dating back to 1991 when ODU finished 26-0) and now reside in the new Big East.

"We have had a good week of practice and look forward to opening the conference season," said ODU Head Coach Andrew Griffiths. "The Big East is one of the stronger conferences and presents a challenge."

Currently the Big East features four teams in the top-20. Louisville is coming off a 5-0 win against UC Davis and a 1-0 loss at Michigan. Michigan State fell 2-1 in overtime against Princeton and lost 5-1 at Delaware.
