MYRTLE BEACH, SC—Three ODU golfers, David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England), Ashton Newsom (Chesapeake, VA.) and Jamison Randall (Cumberland, R.I.) each tied for 11th at the Golfweek Program Challenge held at the True Blue Course. Randall and freshman Langley both shot 72 today to tie teammate Newsom at 216.
As a team, the Monarchs tied JMU, Western Carolina for fifth at 865. Akron won the event at 856, followed by IUPUI (Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis) at 861.
Both Randall and Langley, who started the day at tied for 17th had three birdies each today. J.T.Poston of Western Carolina won the event by five strokes with a 205 ahead of J.B. Williams of Akron. Freshman Thomas Henderson (Sterling, Mass.) shot the best round for the Monarchs with a 71 to finish at 220 and tied for 28th. The Monarchs return to action, Sept. 23 and 24 when they compete in the VCU Shootout.
