NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team will travel to Osborne Stadium in Lynchburg, Va. to take on the Liberty Lady Flames on Friday at 4 p.m.
The Lady Monarchs are coming off a 0-2 start to their season at the JMU Tournament in Harrisonburg, Va. last weekend. In game one, Old Dominion played a very stellar La Salle team tight, but an Explorers goal in the 50th minute of play sealed the deal as La Salle won 1-0. In game two, ODU fell to the Spiders from the University of Richmond, 3-1. Old Dominion freshman Grace Haverly from Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Va., netted her first goal of her young career, as well as the Lady Monarchs lone goal this season.
The Liberty women’s soccer team is coming off a 1-0 golden goal loss to C-USA member Charlotte in the second overtime of their opening game of the 2013 regular season.
Heading into the 2013 season, the Liberty Lady Flames return 16 players from last year's squad, including junior forward Helena Pereira and 2012 Big South All-Freshman team members Jaime Bouffard and Brittany Aanderud. After beginning last season with its best start in program history, Liberty ended 2012 tying its third-highest win total with an 11-7-3 record.
