NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University football team started their second week of preseason camp by scrimmaging in Monday mornings practice.

The defense started the day strong, forcing a three and out as Aaron Evans broke up a deep pass down the middle and Rashaad Coward forced a hurried throw.

D.J. Simon started the second possession with a QB hurry but David Washington followed with consecutive completions to Larry Pinkard and Marquel Thomas before an incompletion and nice tackle by Jevon Neal on a short run ended the drive.

The offense started to move the ball as Antonio Vaughan took a short pass from Taylor Heinicke for 30 yards while Heinicke moved the chains with a completion to Pinkard.  Gerard Johnson capped the drive with a 12-yard TD run.

Johnson made another big play later in the scrimmage, grabbing a 30-yard pass from Heinicke and going for a 16-yard run.  Malik Moseley followed Johnson's big gain with a 15-yarder of his own to set up an 11-yard pass from Heinicke to Pinkard.

During the two-minute drill segment, Heinicke led the offense to the 31 yardline, setting up a 47-yard Jarod Brown field goal, which was good.  Sophomore Ricky Segers kicked a 46-yarder to end the segment.
