LYNCHBURG, VA-- The Liberty University Flames (20-17) defeated the ODU Baseball Monarchs (18-17) Tuesday night, 6-2 behind a pair of two-run homers by Danny Grauer and Ryan Cordell. sophomores Josh Eldridge and Michael Perez led ODU with three hits each.
Liberty got on the board first witih two runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Ryan Cordell who had four RBI on the night.
The Flames added two more runs in the third on a two-run homer by Grauer with Trey Wimmer aboard for a 4-0 lead.
The Monarchs got on the board in the fifth when freshman centerfielder Connor Myers singled home fellow freshman Ryan Beard.
In the ODU half of the sixth inning Mike Perez singled home freshman Dylan Hill who pinch ran for Shawn Sizemore after he doubled. That cut the Flames lead to 4-2.
In the eighth Liberty added two runs on a two-run shot by Cordell over the leftfield fence. ODUfinished the night with 11 hits while Liberty had 10, but ODU left 11 runners on base.
The Monarchs return to action Wednesday night at seventh ranked Virginia.
