WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - No. 68 Old Dominion University men's tennis completed their regular-season with a 4-3 victory over William and Mary Saturday evening.
The Monarchs improve to 14-6 on the year while the Tribe fall to 11-14 on the season.
ODU earned the doubles point with 8-4 victories from Jonas Kuwert and Wesley Barrett and Tim Schweig.
Ben Guthrie got W&M on the board in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while Carlos Lopez Villa improved to 18-1 on the year with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1.
Albert Ochagavia picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2 while Barrett clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 5.
The win ties up the Optima Health challenge between the two schools at 55 points apiece with just one event remaining. The Tribe and Monarchs baseball teams play next weekend at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex to decide the winner.
ODU competes in the Conference USA Tournament April 18-21 in Memphis, Tenn.
