BOSTON, Mass. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team fell in their regular season finale and final game in the Colonial Athletic Association on Sunday afternoon at Northeastern, 79-60, on Solomon Court.
Old Dominion (19-11, 10-8) was able to gain control midway through the first half after a 10-0 run to move past Northeastern (16-11, 9-7), but the Huskies responded with a 32-13 run to take a 46-33 lead into halftime.
For ODU, sophomore Jackie Cook added 15 points scoring in double digits for the sixth straight game, 22nd time this season and 45th time in her career.
The Lady Monarchs shot just 34.9 percent (22-for-63) while the Huskies were at 45.8 percent (27-for-59). The Huskies had a 40-32 rebounding advantage while the ODU bench outscored NU, 17-13.
The Huskies hit six first half three-pointers and were led by Deanna Kerkhof who had a game-high 21 points and hit four from behind the arc. Jewel Tunstull recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Old Dominion now awaits a possible birth in the postseason. Selections for postseason teams are slated to be announced on Monday, March 18.
