NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's tennis won the double point but Marc Powers defeated Albert Ochagavia in a hard fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 match at No. 2 singles as No. 50 Yale defeated No. 55 ODU Sunday afternoon in Wilmington.

ODU (11-5) got off to a fast start as No. 48 Can Cetinel and Carlos Lopez Villa defeated No. 59 Daniel Hoffman and Powers 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Wesley Barrett and Tim Schweig clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 triumph at No. 3.

No. 120 Lopez Villa cruised to an 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles but Hoffman got Yale on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Dante Terenzio at No. 3. Martin Svenning was a 6-2, 7-6 winner at No. 4. while Zach Dean defeated Tim Schweig at No. 6, 6-2, 6-2.

Jonas Kuwert earned ODU its second singles victory at No. 5 with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Zach Krumholz.

Powers and Ochagavia battled it out at No. 2, with Powers winning the first set and Ochagavia the second, and Powers coming away with a tight 6-4 win in the third set.

ODU returns from spring break and hosts Delaware on Sunday, March 31.
