Men's Tennis Dominates Richmond, 7-0

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's tennis defeated Richmond, 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.

ODU improved to 2-1 with the win and hosts UMBC Sunday at 1 p.m.

"I was pleased with the way we came out of the gates in doubles. We got on top of them and stayed all the way through doubles," head coach Aljosa Piric said. "We carried the momentum into singles. We executed better and competed better as a team. I was very happy to see our freshmen, Jonas and Zvonimir, have good matches. It's time to get some rest and get ready for a tough match tomorrow against UMBC."

ODU cruised to the doubles point as No. 23 Carlos Lopez Villa and Can Cetinel were 8-3 winners at No. 1 while Jonas Kuwert and Albert Ochagavia won at No. 2, 8-2.

In singles action, Kuwert cruised at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1 for his first career collegiate win.

Ochagavia delivered a dominant 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 2 while Dante Terenzio was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles.

Wesley Barrett made quick work at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Aaron Wicker.

Zvonimir Podvinski finished off the clean sweep with a straight set 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
