NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's basketball team clamped down defensively against Georgia State on Thursday night, as they held the Panthers to just 24.1 percent from the field in a 68-45 victory at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

In their final meeting as CAA members, Old Dominion (13-5, 4-2) improved to 15-1 all-time against Georgia State (9-8, 1-5) as the Lady Monarchs overcame a slow start offensively to roll past the Panthers. ODU scored 31 points after forcing 28 GSU turnovers on Thursday and in two games this season turned the Panthers over on 54 occasions with 57 points coming off of them.

The Panthers shot just 24.1 percent from the field, the lowest by any ODU opponent this season as they went 13-for-54 from the field. GSU went a stretch of 13:54 spanning midway in the first half and into the second half without registering a field goal.

Sophomore Shae Kelley recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three assists and a steal. It was t he 12th time in 18 games that Kelley has scored in double figures along with senior Jackie Cook who poured in a game-high 15 points, three steals, two rebound and an assist. Cook also passed 400 career rebounds on Thursday night.

Junior Michelle Brandao racked up a career-best eight assists off the bench along with two rebounds, two points, a block and a steal. The eight assists are the most in a game by any ODU player this season. Sophomore Tiffany Minor matched her career-high with 10 points while adding five rebounds and three steals.  The Lady Monarchs held a 35-20 advantage in the paint and the ODU bench outscored GSU, 30-9.

The Panthers were led by Kayla Nolan's 14 points while Cody Paulk added 13 rebounds and two blocks. GSU outrebounded ODU, 50-41, but shot just 14.3 percent (2-14) from behind the arc in the loss, and had more free throws (17) than baskets (13).
