HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team gave up a season-high 83 points and fell to Hofstra on Sunday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex, 83-72.
The Lady Monarchs forced 23 turnovers, the 12th time in 17 games this season an opponent has turned it over on 20 or more occasions, but Hofstra (8-8, 4-1) shot 49.1 percent (28-57) from the field led by All-American senior center Shante Evans who recorded her 58th career double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Becca Allison added 11 points, two rebounds and two assists but the Lady Monarchs were just 4-for-22 (18.2 percent) from behind the arc with all four treys coming from Younger.
The ODU bench outscored Hofstra, 37-10, while the Pride outrebounded the Lady Monarchs, 38-31. Both teams shot above 75 percent from the free throw line as ODU was 18-for-22 (81.8 percent) and Hofstra was 22-for-28 (78.6 percent). Andreana Thomas added 12 points and 13 assists for the Pride.
Old Dominion returns home for three of their next four games beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Georgia State at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
