NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's tennis opens the 2013 season at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday as they take on Norfolk State at 10 a.m. and Howard at 3 p.m.
The Lady Monarchs return four starters from a season ago, including No. 1 singles player and First-Team All-CAA honoree, Diana Ivanova, juniors Nika Khmolovska and Melissa Esnal Olguin and senior Juliana Pires. ODU will not have the CAA Rookie of the Year in Aleksandra Mitrovska who suffered an injury.
Norfolk State went 10-11 a season ago and return their top two wins leaders in sophomores Kia Batiste, 14-7, and Laura Gutierrez, 10-11.
Howard finished 7-3 last season with junior Katelyn Stokes leading the way with an 8-2 mark while sophomore Talia Johnson went 7-3.
