CHARLESTON, S.C. - Four Monarchs scored in double figures led by DeShawn Painter with 15 and Donte Hill with 11, but Adjehi Baru recorded a game-high 20 points to lead College of Charleston to a 76-65 victory over Old Dominion on Tuesday night at TD Arena.

The Cougars (6-4) handed the Monarchs (1-10) their ninth consecutive loss, while CofC ended a two-game skid and shot its second-best field-goal percentage of the season (53.1 percent) behind a perfect 8-of-8 performance by Baru from the floor.

Senior Andrew Lawrence and junior transfer Anthony Thomas were the other CofC players in double figures with 17 and 13 respectively.

Monarch freshmen Keenan Palmore and Deion Clark both scored 10 points for ODU. The Monarchs came up with 12 steals led by Palmore and Clark who had three each.

College of Charleston shot a blistering .615 in the second half and .531 for the game. ODU again outrebounded their opponent, 31-29

ODU led by as many as five in the first 17-12 with 9:49 left in the half. TheMonarchs took a 28-26 lead with 45 seconds left in the half on a layup by freshmanKeenan Palmore, but Andrew Lawrrence hit two free throws with one second leftto tie the game for the fifth time, 28-28 at halftime.

In the second half, the Cougars jumped out to a seven point lead after a three-pointer by Anthony Thomas for a 37-30 lead at the 17:18 mark. Two minutes laterCollege of Charleston would lead by 11, 45-34 after three-pointers from Thomas andAndrew Lawrence.

ODu would cut the lead to three, 45-42 after a DeShawn Painter three-point playwith 12:51 left. College of Charleston would then go on a 10-2 run to take a 57-44lead with 8:53 left in the game as they would outscore ODU, 48-37 in the secondhalf.

ODU played without red-shirt senior co-captain Nick Wright who was ill.

ODU returns to action on Saturday at 5:30 when they take on Virginia in the Richmond Coliseum in the Governor's Classic. That contest will be televised byNBC Sports Network.
