NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 12 Old Dominion University coed sailing team will head to Throggs Neck, N.Y. for the Top 9 Invite and to Kings Point, N.Y. for the War Memorial Regatta this weekend as the regular season nears end.
Last weekend at the Hoyt Trophy race in Providence, R.I., ODU finished fifth out of 18 teams as senior skipper Dillon Paiva was paired with his brother, freshman crew Cooper Paiva in the A-Division race as they finished 11th with 119 points. Freshman skipperEsteban Forrer continues to be impressive in his first season as he finished second alongside junior crew Julia Wiesner in the B-Division race with 62 points.
At the KP Dinghy Open in Kings Point, N.Y., ODU placed sixth out of 20 teams. Sophomore skipper Daniel Lochner and freshman crew Carly Peterson took sixth with 118 points in the A-Division race while junior skipper Mark Miedama and freshman crew Kaylie Gallagher took seventh with 120 points in the B-Division race.
