RICHMOND, Va. - Old Dominion University women's basketball travels to VCU Wednesday to take on the Rams in a 7 p.m. contest. The game will be on ESPN3.
The Lady Monarchs are coming off their second-straight CAA victory, as they defeated Northeastern in Boston Sunday. VCU earned their second CAA win wit ha 65-53 win over UNCW.
Jackie Cook led ODU in the win over NU with a career-best 19 points while Myeisha Hall also recorded a career-best 15. Tia Lewis added 16 points for ODU.
The Lady Monarchs came into the contest shooting just 19 percent from beyond the arc, but ODU lit up the scoreboard Sunday, going 11-of-23 for a 47 percent clip. Hall made five three's, while Cook and Tiffany Minor made two apiece, and Ashley Betz-White and Lewis each made one.
Lewis leads the team with 18.1 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. The senior needs just 21 rebounds to become the seventh Lady Monarch to record 1,000 for her career.
VCU is 9-5 overall and also 2-1 in league play. The Rams are led by the duo of Courtney Hurt and Andrea Barbour. The teammates combine for 40.5 points per game which leads the CAA.
Hurt is second in the CAA and sixth in the nation in scoring with 23.1 points per game and is second in the nation in rebounding with 12.3 per game.
Barbour is sixth in the league in scoring at 17.4 points per game.
ODU and VCU have just one common opponent so far this year, as both teams lost to Richmond.
The game will be broadcast on STAR 1310 with play-by-play from Tony Mercurio and color analysis from Susan Montgomery.
The Lady Monarchs return home Sunday when they host Hofstra at 3 p.m.
