TULSA, Okla. - Old Dominion University men's tennis senior Albert Ochagavia won both of his matches today and advanced to the third day of competition at the ITA All-American Tournament in Tulsa.
Ochagavia won his first match of the day in a tough three-setter over Texas San Antonio's Tyler Brown, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
In his second match of the day, he knocked off Utah's Alejandro Medinilla in another three-set match, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.
"After losing a tight first set Albert played very well and executed his game plan with good discipline and being very physical in the second and third sets," ODU assistant coach Sander Koning said.
Sophomore Carlos Lopez Villa lost in the third round of prequalifying to Johan Backstrom of Ole Miss, 7-6, 6-2. He ended the weekend with a mark of 2-1 and will begin doubles play with Ochagavia on Tuesday.
