Women's Soccer Takes on Richmond Friday

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer hosts Richmond Friday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are coming off a dominating 6-1 victory over VMI on Sunday to improve to 2-4 while Richmond fell to George Mason 3-1 to drop to 2-5.

The matchup will be streamed live on ODUSports.com and will have play-by-play from ODU Director of Broadcasting Ted Alexander and color commentary from former Lady Monarch goalkeeper, Colby Owen.

Amber Cook recorded her first career multi-goal game with three goals in the win over VMI and also added an assist.

Taylor Mertz recorded an assist in the win over the Keydets and is second on the team with four points.

Brianna Alvarado made one save in goal to pick up her second win of the season. She posts a 1.50 goals against average and has made 28 saves on the year.

The Spiders are 2-5 coming into Friday's contest. Natalie LeClair and Shondel Archer lead the team with a goal and assist each.

Junior Becca Wann will make her first appearance of the season for the Spiders on Friday after helping the United States win the 2012 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup. Wann had 15 goals and six assists last year and was named the Atlantic-10 Offensive Player of the Year.

Andrea Young has made 32 saves in goal for the Spiders and has a 2.23 GAA.

ODU is back in action and completes a five-game home stand on Thursday in the CAA opener against James Madison.
