A Look Back: Week 3 - Hampton
Story of the game: This was the second game in the Hampton Roads rivalry. Craig Wilkins sets the ODU record for most tackles in a game with 17, breaking Ronnie Cameron's record of 14 set last season against N.C. Central. True freshman James Faircloth blocked a punt that Larry Pinkard recovered for a touchdown. The Monarchs had trouble stopping Hampton's mobile quarterback David Legree for most of the game but two big fourth quarter sacks by Edmon McClam helped seal the victory for the Monarchs. This win gave the Monarchs an eight-game win streak dating back to last season and a 3-0 record for the 2011 campaign.

A Look Ahead: Week 3 - Campbell
Campbell remains the only team that has played ODU in every season of their program's existence. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 3-0, which includes a 28-17 win in 2009, a 44-13 victory in Buies Creek in 2010, and last year's 41-14 season opening victory. Campbell returns one All-Conference player in sophomore defensive back Steth Monroe. Monroe led the Camels with 32 solo stops, recorded 15 passes defended, and had four interceptions on the season. Campbell, which started its football program in 2008, has steadily improved each season, going 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Pioneer League last year.
