FARMVILLE, Va. - The Old Dominion University Lacrosse team cruised to a 21-6 win over Longwood on Wednesday afternoon at the Athletics Complex.

After trailing early 2-1, the Lady Monarchs reeled off 16 unanswered goals and held the Lancers scoreless for over 37 minutes to take command of the game. The 21 goals are the most that Old Dominion has scored in a game since a 22-0 shutout at American back in 1995, a team that interim head coach Heather Holt was the starting goalie on. The last time that ODU won by 15 goals or more over an opponent was a 20-3 win over American in 1996.

The Lady Monarchs had no problem spreading the wealth on offense as 11 different players scored and eight players scored multiple goals for Old Dominion (3-5). The win, which was the fourth largest in school history and only the fourth time that ODU has ever scored 20 goals in a game, is the second in the last three games for Old Dominion.

After the opening goal of the game was scored by senior midfielder Sarah Wright, Longwood (1-7) took a lead with back-to-back goals before ODU proceeded to scored 16 unanswered goals to take a commanding lead into the half and to begin the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Sarah Geary picked up four saves in the first half and did not allow a goal after the opening five minutes. Freshman goalie Karen Hayde picked up four saves as she played the entire second half in goal for ODU.

Scoring multiple times for ODU was senior attacker Rebecca Reymann (3), senior midfielder Rebecca Hartrum (3), Wright (2), senior midfielder Lisa Bernardini (2), sophomore midfielder Emily Austerberry (2), freshman attacker Jess Liberty (2), junior midfielder Meredith Rogers (2) and senior attacker Mary Bermingham (2).

Finding the back of the net for the first time in their careers were Liberty and redshirt sophomore midfielder Olivia Linehan while junior midfielder Jordynn Collins scored her first goal of the season and second of her career and freshman midfielder scored her second goal of the season in as many games.

Sophomore midfielder Lauren Prasnick led the Lancers with three goals. Austerberry and Bermingham each had a pair of assists in addition to their two goals each to lead the Lady Monarch offense.

Old Dominion returns home to the Powhatan Sports Complex on Saturday to face Virginia Tech. First draw is set for 1 p.m. and both teams will honor former University of Virginia women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love before the match.
