STANFORD NOTES:

Since the loss on November 21 to No.2/4 Connecticut, the Stanford Cardinal have won 29 straight games.

Freshman guard Amber Orrange set a career high in assists by dishing out 11 assists. Orange's previous high was nine assists and she had nine assists twice this season the last time coming against Seattle University on February 29, 2012.

Redshirt junior forward/center Sarah Boothe set a season-high in blocks with three and tied her career-high that she set on 12/28/08 versus UC Davis.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike totaled 28 points and 10 rebounds in the victory over Hampton. She now has 703 points on the year and needs just one point to move into fourth all-time on the single season points records list. She will pass her own name as Ogwumike poured in 704 points in 2009-10.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and Chiney Ogwumike hauled in six. Nnemkadi has now grabbed 335 rebounds on the season, while Chiney has hauled in 337 in 2011-12. Chiney needs eight more rebounds to surpass Jayne Appel (2007-08) for fifth on the season rebounding list.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike made five free throws to move three spots into third on Stanford's season free throws made list. Ogwumike has now connected on 163 shots from the charity stripe and surpassed Candice Wiggins' 162 made attempts in 2004-05 and Nicole Powell's 161 made in 2007-08. For her career, Ogwumike has 527 made three throws and needs 30 to surpass Candice Wiggins (2004-08) for the all-time record.

Stanford won the battle of the boards by a margin of +19 (44-25).

Stanford, making its 25th straight and 26th overall NCAA Tournament appearance, now has a 66-23 in tournament play. Stanford is making its second appearance in Norfolk for the first rounds of the tournament.

HAMPTON NOTES:

Prior to today's contest the Hampton University Pirates allowed 46.8 points per game and was second in the nation only to the University of Connecticut Huskies in scoring defense. The Cardinal scored 73 points against the Pirates.

Alyssa Bennett led the way for the Pirates scoring 19 points with four rebounds and two steals.

Hampton will conclude the 2012 season at 26-5 with the loss to Stanford. They made their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

Head Coach David Six's overall record moves to 71-24 in his three years with the Pirates.

Today was the first time the Pirates had allowed an opponent to score more then 70 points all season long. The previous opponent high was 69 point scored by Coppin State on January 28th in a 69-66-overtime loss in the Pirates' only MEAC loss of the season.

The loss to Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament was the only neutral court loss for the Pirates this season. They entered tournament action with a 4-0 neutral court record.
