Sailing Completes Competition in Maryland

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University coed sailing team completed a full weekend of competition on the water in Maryland over the weekend. The team race took place at St. Mary's College with a women's intersectional at the U.S. Naval Academy.

ODU finished 6-12 with two rounds of action at the St. Mary's College Team Race, going 3-6 in each round. Sailing skippers for the Monarchs was senior Gavin Rudolph, junior Zach Runci and sophomores Scott Hoffmann and Brady Stagg. The crew consisted of seniors Emily Reich and Miles Martschink and sophomores Julia Weisner and Jill Fattibene.

The Monarchs defeated Wisconsin (twice), Navy, Hobart and William Smith (twice) and Roger Williams in team action.

At the Navy Women's Intersectional, the Lady Monarchs placed 18th out of 20 teams in action with a score of 517. After a cool but breezy Saturday, temperatures warmed up Sunday under windy conditions. In the A-Division race, skipper Corina Radtke and crew Jordan Stock and Shannon Wilkins took 18th with a score of 295. Skipper Andrea Luna and crew Arianna Baker and Jessica Milligan took 14th in the B-Division race for ODU.

Next weekend, ODU takes part in the prestigous Truxton Umsted in Annapolis while St. Mary's Women's Intersectional also takes place.
