NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs return to action Tuesday with a two-gameseries against Chris Finwood's Alma Mater, VMI. Tuesday's game will be at 3 p.m. atthe Bud Metheny Complex and Wednesday's game will be at 6 p.m. at Hampton's War Memorial Stadium. That game will also be broadcast on Star13010 WGH radio with TedAlexander, Doug Ripley with former ODU Major Leaguer and Hall of Famer Wayne Gomes ('94) as guest announcer.
VMI is 6-8 on the season and is led by Jacob Morley with a .353 batting average and two homers along with seven RBI. Jordan Tarsovich is hitting .314 while George Piccirilli leads the Keydets with eight RBI.VMI is scheduled to throw righthander Reed Garrett (1-1/3.46 ERA).
ODU, 4-10 is scheduled to throw freshman lefthander Kevin Griffey (0-0/1.59 ERA)from nearby Smithfield High School on Tuesday, while fellow Freshman Connor Overton (0-1/ 9.53 ERA) from Atlee High School in Mechanicsville, VA. will go on Wednesday night in Hampton.
Chris Baker leads ODU with nine RBI along with three homers, while Josh Tutwilerleads all starters with a .317 batting average. Josh Wright has crossed home platethe most with 12 thus far.
ODU will host UMASS this weekend beginning Saturday at 2 p.m.
