NORFOLK, VA-- Chris Baker's sacrifice fly plated Brandon Shelton to break a 2-2 tiein the seventh inning as Old Dominion rallied to defeat Delaware, 5-3 Sunday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.

Sophomore pitcher Dean Ali (Chesapeake, Va.) pitched the final three innings to pick up the with, striking out five with just one walk, one run and and three hits.

Senior Brandon Shelton and junior Kenneth Belgrave each had three hits on the day.Belgrave scored twice and Shelton had two RBI.

Delaware took a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Cameron Travalini scored on anerror, then Alex Maruri singled home DJ Long.

In the fifth, junior centerfielder Kenneth Belgrave (Norfolk, VA.) led off with a single and would later score on an RBI single by Brandon Shelton (Chesapeake, VA.).

ODU tied the game in the sixth when Joey Burney (Gloucester, VA.)who singled scored from third ona balk. In the seventh inning, Shelton led off with a single followed by JoshWright reaching on a throwing error on his sacrifice bunt. Chris Baker then fliedout to deep leftcenter to bring home Shelton. Josh Wright(Bridgewater, VA.) then later scored from third on a wild pitch, for a 4-2 lead.

ODU scored another run in the eighth as Brandon Shelton doubled to leftcenter to score Belgrave.

ODU starter Phil McCarthy pitched five innings allowing just two unearned runs withthree walks and two strikeouts. Chad Kuhl of UD allowed five hits with two runs,three walks and five strikeouts.

ODU improves to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the CAA, while Delaware is 7-9 overall and2-1 in the CAA.

ODU hosts VMI Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Bud Metheny Complex, then the two willplay at Hampton's War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
