NORFOLK, Va. -- Freshman quarterback Taylor Heinicke (Atlanta, Ga.) received the College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Year Trophy last night from Executive Director Brad Smith.

Former Monarch Ronnie Cameron was also one of the top award winners from the organization as he was bestowed with the Elite Defensive Tackle Award.
Cameron, who graduated in December with his Master's in Business Administration and is preparing for possible future in the NFL, was unable to attend last night's festivities , but click here to hear an interview with Cameron about the award and his career with the Monarchs.
