Lewis Accepts Invitation to Participate in ProHoops Free Agent Camp

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's basketball senior Tia Lewis has accepted an invitation to attend the ProHoops Free Agent Camp on March 31 in Denver, Colo.

"Tia is leaving her own legacy here at Old Dominion and is continuing to be huge impact on a young team in a rebuilding process" ODU head coach Karen Barefoot said. "Her competitiveness, focus, dedication, leadership, and passion for the game will lead her to fulfill her dreams. I enjoy coaching her and look forward to seeing her finish the season strong while marching to her future goals."

Lewis leads the Lady Monarchs with 18.3 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game and ranks fourth in the CAA in scoring, fifth in rebound, fourth in field goal percentage shooting at a 51.4 percent clip and is third in the league in minutes played with 35.4. She has tied or set her career-high three separate times this season, including her current career-best of 30 points in the 68-59 win over Georgia State on January 4.

The only senior on the Lady Monarchs this season, Lewis has developed into a top notch leader not only on the the court, but off the court as well.

Lewis joined elite company in the win at Georgia State last week, becoming the seventh Lady Monarch to record 1,000 career rebounds. She currently has 1,008 rebounds and is tied for sixth with Kelly Lyons. She has also moved all the way up to 16th on the all-time scoring list with 1,451 points

The ProHoops Free Agent Camp is an invitation only camp to give the top college seniors an opportunity to be evaluated by WNBA coaches and other staff members before the draft to be held in April, 2012.
