NORFOLK, VA--The Colonial Athletic Association champion Old Dominion University Lady Monarch field hockey squad (20-2) will host first and second round NCAA tournament games Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 at the ODU Powhatan Sports Complex. The Lady Monarchs are the second seed in this year's tournament.
ODU will meet Ohio State (12-8) at 11:30 a.m., followed by Duke (13-7) against Stanford (17-3), at 2 p.m. The two winners will meet on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NCAA Final Four at Trager Stadium in Louisville, KY, Nov.18 and 20.
The Lady Monarchs have won an NCAA best nine national championships and are making and NCAA best 29th overall tournament appearance.
The Lady Monarchs earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after winning their 15th CAACrown with a 5-1 win over 18th ranked Northeastern who is also in the tournament field.
The Lady Monarchs played Ohio State earlier this year, defeating the Buckeyes, 2-0 in Columbus. ODUand Duke split games, with ODU winning in double-overtime in Durham, 3-2 and losing at home, 2-1 in overtime.
Tickets are 5.00 for adults and 3.00 for students.
