NORFOLK, Va. -- Redshirt freshman Eriq Lewis (Washington, D.C.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Football Player of the Week as his two pivotal interceptions during William & Mary's final two drives helped seal a 35-31 victory for the Football Monarchs.

Lewis' first pick came on the Tribe's second-to-last drive of the game after ODU had taken a four-point lead. His second pick ended the game as William and Mary was again marching down the field in search of a game-winning touchdown with less than 30 seconds left on the clock.

Lewis is the first Monarch to ever record two interceptions in one game and now has four INTs on the year. The redshirt freshman also forced a fumble on the Monarch goaline in the first quarter. The turnover, recovered by Carvin Powell, halted an eventual touchdown and resulted in a touchback.

Lewis is the first Monarch to earn CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league. Other Monarchs who have earned CAA weekly awards including Colby Goodwyn (CAA Player of the Week - 9/12), Antonio Vaughan (CAA Rookie of the Week - 9/5), Taylor Heinicke (CAA Rookie of the Week - 10/3, 10/31, 11/7), and Jakwail Bailey (CAA Special Teams Player of the Week - 10/3).
