This season for the Monarchs men's tennis squad, ODU junior Albert Ochagavia will be keeping a blog detailing what he and the rest of the Monarchs are up to.
This has been a tough month. We have been traveling and competing a lot. But it just got to an end, we had our last tournament of the fall semester. Two weekend's ago we had the ITA regionals at Charlottesville UVA and all of the ODU players entered straight away into the main draw.
As players we were very pumped up because we wanted to see where we are and also because for the first time in the semester the whole team would be travelling together.
The reason is that beside our head coach Aljosa and the volunteer assistant coach, John, Sander, our assistant coach joined us on Thursday so he was able ready to travel with us for his first time. Yaw, the strength and conditioning coach travelled with us as well.
During the weekend we played a lot of matches and we started to see some improvements all across the lineup. Each one of us fought and gave his best and some good things happened. Five out of our six players won the first round and Muzalewski and me reached the fourth round, the round of 16.
It is very nice to see that as a team and individually, day after day we are looking better. We only have one thing on mind, we want to keep trying everyday to get better and I am sure that now that Sander is also here it will be easier.
One, two, three... MONARCHS!!
