POWELLS POINT, NC-- The Flames of Liberty University fired a 12-under par 276 today to overtakelast year's NCAA runner-up Georgia in the second round of the ODU-Outerbanks Collegiate at the KilmarlicGolf Club. Liberty's two-day score of 557 leads the event by one stroke over Bulldogs (558). The host ODU Monarchs remain in fourth after shooting 292 today and are at 581 four strokes behind third place Winthrop.
T.J. Mitchell of Georgia who shot a tournament record 64 yesterday, shot 70 today and still leads the eventby one stroke over Robert Karlsson of Liberty. Tied for third are Keith Mitchell of Georgia (138), and Jack Persons ofGeorge Washington (138).
ODU senior Neil Henderson (North Berwick, Scotland) is tied for 12 with a 144 after shooting 73 today. Junior Thomas Wilde (Berkshire, England) moved up from 34th to tie for 15th with a 71 today. Sophomore John Dawson (Chesapeake, VA.) is tied for 22nd at 146 after posting a 74 today.
Henderson is tied for second in the tournament in par three scoring at 2.80 while Dawson's 25 pars have himtied for seventh.
TJ Mitchell of Georgia, Robert Karlsson of Liberty, Cameron Bell of Winthrop and Elon's John Somers each havetwo eagles thurs far in the tournament.
