ODU jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.), the nation's fourth leading scorer with 14 goals on an assist from freshman Ivan Militar( Szeged,Hungary) 15 minutes into the half.

In the second half Gideon Asante (Sunyani, Ghana) scored in the on an outlet pass from Alex De John (Marlboro, NJ.)."Up 2-0 with three and a half minutes left, felt like a comfortable lead. But gave up a PK due to miscommunication and that gave them life. I'm most proud at how we responded to adversity. Instead of hanging our heads after the second goal we jumped on them early in overtime. We've been through this before and we have experienced guys who know how to handle these situations. You have to grab all the points you can at home because points are hard to get, but overall I feel great about the win."- ODU head coach- Alan Dawson.

The Panthers rallied with two goals in the final four minutes on a penalty kick from Stephen McGill after an ODU foul in the box. Ayokunle Limpkin got the equalizer with 1:30 left in regulation on assists from Stephen McGill and Michael Nwiloh.

In the extra period Asante dribbled baseline then crossed to Hopkinson, the CAA co-player of the Week in front of the net who beat the goalkeeper for the golden goal winner. Asante almost scored earlier in the extra period.
