NORFOLK, Va. - Senior goalkeeper Devon Seifert and freshman midfielder Lydia Velzian have each been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association for their outstanding performances in a pair of Lady Monarch wins this past week. Seifert has been named the CAA Player of the Week and Velzian has been selected as the leagues Co-Rookie of the Week.

Seifert is the second ODU player to earn player of the week as senior Emma Batten won it twice during the first two weekly awards. Seifert has been solid in the cage all season, but really shined last week. The Marmora, N.J. native shutout Ohio State and let in just one goal in ODU's 2-1 victory over No. 5 Syracuse. For the week, Seifert boasted a 0.64 goals against average and registered three saves.

Velzian shares the rookie weekly award with Lindsey Buckheit of William & Mary. Velzian netted the game-winning goal against the Orange that led ODU to the Buckeye Classic title.

The Lady Monarchs, which remained second in this week's Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, travel to North Carolina this weekend for a pair of critical non-conference games. ODU will take on No. 1 North Carolina on Friday and then battle No. 6 Duke on Sunday.
