NORFOLK, Va. -- Rising redshirt sophomore Jarod Brown (Yorktown, Va.) was named to the Placekicker Watch List by the College Football Performance Awards.

The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

Brown joined the Monarchs last year after transferring from West Virginia and wasresponsible for 75 of the Monarchs' 369 points in 2010.

Finding his way through the uprights on 39 of his 41 extra point attempts, Brown went a perfect 6-for-6 on PAT's in games with Savannah State and VMI. He also went 4-for-4 on PAT's in games with Georgia State and Hampton.

In field goals, Brown made 12 of his 16 field attempts with his longest field goal of the 2010 season going 48 yards in the season finale at N.C. Central. He also connected on a 44-yard field goal against Georgia State.

On kickoffs, Brown averaged 62.3 yards and totaled 3987 yards on his 64 kicks with seven touchbacks.

Brown is the fifth Monarch to be named to a College Football Performance Award Watch List. Thomas DeMarco was named to the quarterbacks watch list in mid-May, while Prentice Gill was named to the wide receivers watch list, Ronnie Cameron was added to the defensive tackle watch list and Craig Wilkins added to the linebackers watch list in the month of June.

As the 2011 season approaches, College Football Performance Awards will be releasing a preseason watch list each week from now until pre-season. For more information on the College Football Performance Awards, click here.
