PRINCETON, N.J. - Old Dominion sophomore Abby Voss (Alexandria, Va.) is among the 24 collegiate rowers USRowing has invited to attend its 2011 Women's Under 23 National Team Selection Camp this summer, the organization announced on Monday.

The camp will select the women's eight and quadruple sculls crews that will compete at the 2011 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 21-24 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition, coaches will select boats in the women's pair, four and double sculls that will compete at the 2011 USRowing Under 23 World Championships Trials scheduled for June 27-29 on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. The winners of these trials also will earn the right to compete in Amsterdam.

"Its an honor for ODU to have an athlete selected to this level so early in the development of this program," said ODU head coach Dan Garbutt. "This is attributed to Abby's hard work and we're looking forward to her progress."

Voss is among an elite group invited to the selection camp, which includes several past junior national team members and five members of the team that competed at the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships.

The Lady Monarch sophomore has attended two USRowing Identification Camps while at Old Dominion, including one last fall in Charlottesville. The Identification Camps were used to identify athletes throughout the United States with U-23 or Senior National Team potential. The camp offered Voss the opportunity to demonstrate her talents on the erg and on the water and meet national team coaches.

Rowing all four years at Jeb Stuart High School, thanks in part to her brother who was coaching, Voss joined the Lady Monarchs last fall and became one of 13 rowers named First Team All-CAA following the conference championship last spring.
