PINEHURST, NC-- The ODU Lady Monarchs shot 311 today and finished the 54-hole CAAChampionships in fifth place with a 933 score. Sophomore Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) fired a 75 in today's final round to finish tied for 11th. The championships were held at Pinehurst No. 6.
In all, three Lady Monarchs finished in the top 20. Kristen Hagan (Charlotte, NC.) finished 15th with a score of 233, freshman Elizabeth Haycock (Birmingham, England) finished at 235 for 18th place and senior Emma Gilmore (Ballinaside, Ireland) shot 74 to finish with a 54-hole score of 237 which tied for 19th.
Charlotte Guilleux of Georgia State won the CAA medalist title with a three-dayscore of 222, one stroke better than Nicole Sakamoto of JMU.
Morrell tied for first in the championships at 2.83 in par three scoring, while Haycock was second in par five scoring at 4.83. Morrell led the tournament with eight birdies,While Hagan was fourth in total pars with 36.
The team championship went to UNC Wilmington. The Seahawks finished with a 917 score and won by five strokes over Georgia State.
