Saturday's Spring Scrimmage Highlights:

Spring Scrimmage Interviews:

DEFENSE DOMINATES:
The defense dominated the first segment only allowing the offense one touchdown. The defense did not allow the offense to move the chains the first two drives and although a 10-yard pass to Dorian Jackson saw the offense gain a first down, they were forced to punt three plays later. On the next drive, the offense moved the chains thanks to Rashad Manley's 13-yard pass to Larry Pinkard, but wouldn't move further thanks in part to Eric Saylor and Andrew Turner helping to force a fumble.

NO SCORE FOR YOU:
Corner Eriq Lewis was a big part of the success of the defense during red zone drills. The rising redshirt freshman had a pair of pass break-ups leading to the field goal unit to take the field.

CHANGE OF POSSESION:
Safety Carvin Powell came up an interception, running the ball back 30 yards nearly to the line of scrimmage. J.J. Williams also nearly had a interception. Breaking up the pass, Williams' tried his best to gain control of the ball as it bouncing several times in his hands on his way to the ground.

MAKING THE BIG PLAYS:
Wide receiver Antonio Vaughan had a 62 yard reception for a touchdown. As noted in the video, Vaughan seems to come up with at least one huge play each practice. "Redshirting my first year helped me a lot," noted Vaughan, "and I was able to spend a lot of time on learning the plays. A lot of the offense comes through us (wide receivers), so if we do well, our offense will do well this fall."

WINDING DOWN:
During the two-minute drill with 42 seconds remaining and the offense on third down, running back Mario Crawford took the ball, evaded Paul Morant, and took off for 60 yards maneuvering down the right field side to the end zone.
